Sixteen years a 'good run' - - compared to only fiive for 'gen-one' Challengers. Where can you (legally) drive 700+ HP cars anyway? Lest we forget there are NO Challengers in NASCAR or (NHRA) Pro Stock - etc. Suppose good news out of all this is discontinuation of Camaros.

They are not killing a brand (Dodge). They are not killing the Challenger name, necessarily. One engine which arguably was time-limited the day it was launched.

i don’t expect the charger or challenger name to go anywhere, just getting moved to a new platform finally.
I’m talking about him being happy about the camaro supposedly being killed off. The more cars are killed off the higher the chance of any reasonably priced cars being killed off for all brands

i did forget this. It was never supposed to be regular production at all. there were rumor mill said the v8 was on its last days. For a decade or more now. There has been a huge stay of execution. We are lucky the replacement is faster better quieter and more efficient, not smog equipped, wallowing embarrassments.

for those who are lamenting the loss of the hellcat, how many did you purchase? Or how many are actively planning to purchase one? Boy am I sad they ceased production of the viper, but if I had 125k in Cash, I would use the money elsewhere. I was never going to be a customer with my income

Yup, we can get whatever I want and whatever my wife wants for similar money as a new Hellcat or Demon. These are great vehicles, but not high on my wish list…and I have the money. I also have 2 kids who we‘ll eventually be putting through college. Lol.

That being said, I’m curious to see what they come up with. Maybe, just maybe it’s something that’ll make people forget ever being upset in the first place. But then again, people will complain about a sunny day….

It's not dubious. I already provided the link with observations and evidence from the past 30 years(which there are many). If you wanna eat soy thats fine it's your choice but to deny that it does not have a negative side effect with men just doesn't make sense to me.

Either way we were talking about a hellcat and now we are talking about alternative to meats...

I don't know when the last hellcat would be made but i would recommend not waiting till the last second as that's a great way to not own one in case problems arise

No end date has been announced, but if you wait for the announcement it may be too late. It could happen at any moment or it could still be years away.

Well this Challenger has been around much longer and has enjoyed much greater success then the old one ever did. So even if it goes away it will have left a lasting mark on history.

Well funny because I just saw a Motor Trend article today that talks about how Dodge has a neat trick up their sleeves to make the EV "muscle cars" sound better. Kuniskis says it's "shocking" but I guess we'll have to wait until the April auto show to see what this is all about. How do you make drivers forget that they're driving a soul-less, vanilla appliance with no visceral feel or sound? Tough task, but Dodge says they have an answer. This ought to be rich...

I had a 98 TJ with an underpowered 4 cylinder that was as slow as slow gets. And yet, somehow, that vehicle managed to give me many smiles per mile. It’s not necessarily what powers a vehicle that determines its “soul”, it’s the over all package.

There are plenty of gasoline power cars that have no soul, so a gasoline engine does not guarantee a soul. Nor would an electric powertrain mean there is no soul.

Yes. 100% yes.

Gasoline cars have soul because every automaker has their own engine, with their own design, their own firing order on the cylinders, their own sound and feel, they all make a unique product. Ford, Chevy, Dodge all coming at it from their own unique angle. That's THE thing that created the hype back in the 60s (and even before that)...can that guy's car outrun my car? What does HE have under the hood? The element of surprise. The element of individual personality.

When you go electric, everything has the same guts. Same type of battery, same type of motor, same everything. The only differences are how much voltage do you throw at those motors? It's going to be a boring life and it will zap (no pun intended) the soul and personality out of all these cars. Oh sure, they can augment the sound. They can change the shape of the body. But at the end of the day an EV is an EV.

Very sad day. We are the ones who got to witness the government take control of what people are allowed to have.
