Correct. Select new vehicles only, starting with certain 2021 model year vehicles.I don't think the presser referenced which ones, but if I was to guess - Pacifica and seven passenger next generation Grand Cherokee.
Debut on all new car which debuts all new car arhitecture. It's European brand. Take a guess.

Hmm, won't they re-skin it to not say uConnect? It may still use the Android Auto implementation that underlies all next generation FCA infotainment offerings, but if I'm reading your message correctly it would be the first time UConnect is offered in either Alfa or Maesarati.

Honestly, no idea. I thought Alfa Tonale was 2021 calendar/2022 model year...sooo Maesarati?
Debut will be on Fiat. I said while ago on which one. I even said which CPU will use this new system, at least for this application.

BTW, this is not Uconnect as we know. It shares just a name but it's successor of both Uconnect and Alfa Connect 3D. Actually some of novelties like widgets are already present on Alfa Connect 3D.

Maserati is using Uconnect 4.

Mips based processors is kinda weak. Android doesn't even officially support the mips instruction set any more. This will make development and future OS upgrades way more difficult, as well as app development. Mips also isn't known for having particularly competitive chip selection in terms of performance. I'd much rather see something ARM based, preferably from Qualcomm. Anyone know what actual version of Android it's based on yet?
It uses Intel Atom for automotive industry. Ate leat that's the case for more powerful unit.
then why does it say
"In combination with an upgraded 50K MIP chip"
Unless that is in reference to some sort of additional discrete processor.
It should be MIPS as Million Instructions Per Second.

Uconnect 5 is hugeeee. I mean it's so important for FCA. In the last years German car makers leapfrogged everyone else when it comes to infotainment. Their execution was not the best but their technology content, screen size and screen resolution were top notch. They have advanced voice recognition commands and firmware on the air upgrades. Finally all of these is coming to FCA.

I don't know about US but in the EU currently cars are bought by technology content. Technology as some safety assist like automatic braking, lane keeping or detection and similar. Cars which have it in base trim are more desirable. Then other part of technology is infotainment. Size of the screen, resolution, rear view camera or 360° camera, mirroring which is wireless and of course on the fly on the air updates. And then virtual cockpit or fully digital instrument cluster which BTW is also run by infotainment hardware.

FCA lacks in these departments. In the next 24 months FCA will do a lot to improve this. AFAIK all upcoming MCA models or all new models for EU and US will have this new infotainment as standard or as an option.

Just take a look at upcoming Grand Cherokee. 10.1" screens for both infotainment and instrument cluster. I will put my money on availability of full navigation on instrument cluster. For sure they will offer it on Alfa and Maserati with fully digital 12.4" cut instrument cluster.
