Warning: Stop Injecting Politics Into Everything

We have a small number of members who have started injecting politics into these forums on a more-than-daily basis.

I personally don't know what the intent is, but I believe I speak for all the moderators when I say it's time to stop.

People know about climate change, electric cars, and such already... or have chosen not to know. All the talking points are out there.

Unless there is something of particular insightfulness and uniqueness – and relevance to Stellantis in particular – please post it somewhere else.

Thank you,
Dave Z

And it would be really nice if people were not called stupid or lazy in posts. :)

Some of them have been punished numerous times. They come back for more. Some offer little value for the trouble and should be removed, IMO.

Happens all too often. Most of these people are edge lords, just looking to get a rise out of people. Super annoying.

I do get what Dave Z is saying and mostly agree. However, so much of our lives today is so deeply embedded in some form of political context. For me at my age its not the kind of thing I like but its out there and we deal with it daily. Almost all topics and subjects today will find it way into the arena of politics because we have allowed it to happen.

Personally, I don't object so much to the politics as to the "holding-my-hands-to-my-ears-while-screaming" politics that denies any shared reality and relies solely upon the extremists’ talking points.

We used to be able to discuss things rationally, now most politics is religion. It's also brought in unnecessarily on a constant basis. I mean, seriously, in a discussion on future EVs, we do NOT need to hear someone's crackpot "climate change is a conspiracy" theories yet again, or the paranoid "you're all out to get my perfect energy source" rants, etc., etc. After all, we can talk about the gasoline engine announcements without going into depth on oil and gasoline theory, right? (I have a friend who witnessed the Shell genocide first-hand, but he doesn't go to car forums to lambast gasoline engines every day).

Sorry if the example is introducing politics in itself, but seriously, there are topics that every. freakin’. time. bring up all the same talking points.

Note to moderators: as always I can be warned if you feel fit.

I tend to slam a 'check for insult, previous argument, political?' filter if any reply post starts with "It's obvious that..." or "Well, its obvious...".
<Then I edit my own post instantly because why didn't I add...>
I prefer seeing 'While.' used as it can be a agreement to disagree. If manners are used it may not be taken as a dismissive insult. Then move on.

I think one thing that may effect the injection of politics into topics is the fact that so many of us come from different cultures with different geographic areas and they will clash. Like said above be respectful and aware of the differentness of the huge geographic cultures :p

So your saying Dave "Have a nice day" at the end of a post is like my wife saying "fine" to me ... lol

I'm referring to a Facebook specific issue where people deliver harsh insults and end with "have a nice day" - you would not do that kind of drive-by.

As I posted in a different thread,

“…you've fallen for one of the two classic blunders! The first being never get involved in a land war in Asia but only slightly lesser known: never go in against a cicelean when DEATH is on the line! HAHAHAHAHAHAHA”.

And slightly lesser known still, is to never engage in a conversation about politics, religion, or climate change on Allpar!!!

Or flywheels….I mean, who knew flies had wheels anyway??

Then maybe we shouldn’t say anything, just post videos of us nodding yes, or shaking our head no. But then there could be a hint of a smile while you shake your head, so that might imply laughing at the poster. Or a hint of a frown while nodding, so that might imply agreement, but begrudgingly so…or condescension Whew….who knew this could be soooooooooo hard?? And hard, as in difficult and not as in rigid or inflexible…..geez….I’m going to be typing for days if this keeps up! And up, as in duration and not the directional up…

(this is probably why the comments were usually locked when making threads like this…”read only”, because of childish jackwagons like me). :ROFLMAO:

Those emojis look like the stages of reaction to getting a prostate exam…and could be read from left to right or vice Versa depending on your preferences….zing! :ROFLMAO:

Fence building around words we use is a lost art. During my consulting years we were taught and I learned to use fences.
Could
Should
Maybe
Possibly
Potential
Seems
Yes while
Many many more
The way information and changes happen so fast today "not much" is set in stone. Instead of saying "nothing", which is wrong "not much" gives me cover. Speaking in absolutes today is dangerous.

Whining about censorship at allpar rarely works out well for those who do it, because we go back and look and say, "Oh, yes, he deserved that."

The bad words filter has been out of order for a long time.

The moderators are currently talking about a no-warnings, immediate suspension for injection of politics. Not banning, but suspension. For “either” side.

The expected or required conditions for posting should be clearly posted and fully explained, and emailed to all forum members.

Thanks, Zagnut.

These days I am less concerned with passing profanity and more concerned with flaming and trolling.
