One ratio if they are 3:1 reduction they are always 3:1 the only thing that changes is the MOTOR RPM.
Motors are electric, engines are combustion based
Yes, they have a transmission system, but they don’t have multiple gears. It’s not like a normal transmission system, and most electric cars have a single-speed transmission system. Think of the EV as a man sized slot car. No gear ratios, just that one motor that drives the rear wheels. That is how the EV works. Electric motors can run to 20,000 RPMs. No transmission now, can withstand that without portions of it flying apart.
EVs can produce a consistent amount of torque for a wide range of RPMs. Most modern transmissions cannot withstand the torque an electric motor puts out. Even if it were a manual, the pressure plate on most manuals cannot withstand the torque of the electric motor let alone the gearbox.
However, they are preparing to use modified versions on them on EVs soon. There are some very high end EVs that do have 2 or 3 speed transmissions.
Yeah they are reliable (unless Jatco or Get(a)rag makes them) 😜
