As we have expected over the course of the past week, it does appear as though the Charger Design Concept that will debut at the Spring Festival of LXs in California tomorrow will indeed be the Dodge Charger SRT Hellcat Widebody. Well, it is at least a Dodge Charger SRT Widebody and we would hope that it has one of the supercharged Hemi engines under the hood. In any case, this confirms our past few reports where we talked about the widebody Charger, the spy shots and the likelihood of the widened sedan making its formal debut in California.

Our recent discussions of the Dodge Charger SRT Hellcat Widebody began back on March 12 th , when we shared the SpringFest 14 flyer with the promise of a vehicle reveal. At that point, there were rumors that the vehicle would be a widebody Charger and shortly after posting that piece, a person involved with the project who wishes to remain unnamed reached out to me to confirm (off the record, of course) that there would be a widebody Charger on display on California.

Next, on March 18 th , pictures of a Dodge Charger SRT Widebody appeared on two different Instagram accounts and they were joined by what looks to be a screen shot of a presentation discussion the Dodge Charger SRT Hellcat Widebody. We received a surprising number of comments that those cars were nothing special; that they were privately owned Dodge Chargers with custom vinyl and widebody kits.

On March 19 th , a video of one of those uniquely decorated Chargers showed up on Instagram, but once again, some folks on social media argued that these weren’t FCA cars – they were just privately owned Dodge Chargers with custom widebody packs and vinyl work. When it was pointed out that there were more than one, the critics of this information insisted that it could be someone with money to burn, who had multiple examples of the same car made.

Today, March 22 nd , the picture at the top of this piece was posted online by someone attending SpringFest 14. It is clearly one of the widebody cars that we have been discussing, covered in a thin sheet and parked among the other FCA display vehicles. Upon seeing this picture, there is no question that the “Charger Design Concept” debuting tomorrow afternoon will be the long-awaited Dodge Charger SRT Hellcat Widebody. Perhaps they are calling it a concept for now, but in every way, it looks like a production-ready machine – hopefully with a 797-horsepower Hemi under the hood.

As soon as the official information is announced tomorrow at SpringFest, you will find all of that information right here on Allpar.
