Same situation exists at Walmart. I always tended to buy 5 quart containers of conventional oil for my older vehicles (1966, 1991, 2000 model years) at Walmart when needed. But in the last 12 - 18 months Walmart has a very limited supply (if any) of conventional 10W - 30 oil. The shelves are stocked wtih the latest fluids used by manfuacturers which are typically synthetic oil blends with exotic temperature ranges. My vehicles do not need that.
I purchase the oil (5w-20) needed for my '06 Ram 1500 (Hemi) at Walmart. I switched to synthetic a few years ago - it's only a few dollars more to run synthetic vs conventional. Anyway, it's not usually a problem to find 5w-20 in the 5-quart jugs but can be a challenge at times to find 5w-20 in the 1-quart containers. The Hemi requires 7 quarts when servicing. They seem to have a harder time stocking the conventional oils. Walmart also carries MoPar oil filters though the last time they didn't have the size I needed so I ended up going with Fram Extra Guard.

Once a vehicle exits the basic 3/36 warranty period it is MUCH less likely to visit a dealership service department.
My 17-year-old Ram only sees the dealership once a year for the annual state inspection. It's free since I purchased the vehicle there. Otherwise, it is a $20 fee.
