Power windows....the Achilles heel of my 98 GC. First, the passenger side would not go up or down and I replaced the entire assembly since there was no motor activation. Besides, I was replacing the entire door since it had a rust hole as big as a fist. Now, the driver's side window fails to go either way unless I slam the door 5-6 times. Now, I keep it closed and run the ac. The other Achilles heel is the rust of which the passenger's sliding door decided to get a big hole and then there is the driver's side strut mount which is in bad shape. Oh, I forgot to mention that the steel tube leading from the fuel filler to the carbon canister (?) is rusted and fuel leaks when I am filling the tank.

Yep, up north where the salt kills. A real shame since the motor and trans have been faultless and smooth. Rust is a battle. My friend mechanic and I found another passenger's side door in good shape at a junk yard, he painted it and we hung it. And I was happy....for a week. Then the sliding door's rust spot decided to fall onto the road. The strut tower is a common problem. So common that there is an aftermarket brace of which one rivets onto or tack welds to the rusted tower. Must have been an mfg error since the passenger's side tower shows no rust.
