01 Dakota cannot totally shut off hot air

I noticed that when I turned on the fan to move outside air into the cab, the air was hot. Not just outside air hot but HOT. I can turn up heat but it still comes out when all the way to the cold setting.

Watched some videos on some various issues, but was hoping for more clarification here.

ALSO - one or more of the lights are out in the climate control panel. How do I take that out to replace the bulbs or what ever is behind there?

I actually watched this video. I am going to check out the parts he is exhibiting. i also watched one where the actuator was taken apart and on of the internal gears was missing teeth.

ok - so when did this whole soldered bulb thing become the standard? After '01 - it kinda sounds like.

I will take my control out this weekend and see what I have. really think it is super stupid to produce a set up like that. but that is what we MOPAR fans have to edure. some similarity to VWs there....

ok, now I need some real help. I took off the blend door actuator and now I cannot get the whole thing back together. I cannot determine which of the two levers under the big round piece goes into the inner track and which one goes into the outer track. Cannot find any pictures or videos that delve that deeply.

should I regrease? using what?

It has grease on it - not sure if it is ‘factory’.
I figured it out finally. Took some more stuff off to see better and that helped.

I hit all the under dash issues I had: ashtray broken /swap for functional one; find out why small courtesy light not working; replace knee panel with donor parts with non- broken parking brake lever; check both climate actuators; replace burnt out heater control lights with LEDs. Also reattached the foam strips around the heater ducts.
