Okay, I just picked up a low mileage 96 Mitsubishi Mirage with a 1,5 engine in it and am wondering if anyone knows for sure if this is an interference engine or not? I've read several conflicting reports and would like to know if I should go ahead and plan on replacing the timing belt at 104,000 miles or not. Seems like the conflict is between 95 and 97 on the engine being interference or not. I'm not afraid to get my hands dirty, but don't want to do that if I don't need to. I'd also like to know if it's possible to replace the a/c pulley without completely draining the system and removing the compressor. This one is shot, but it still has coolant in the system. I'd like to have the a/c working for the upcoming summer!

I tend to trust Gates for this information. They claim it's an interference engine with a 60k change interval on the 96 1.5L engine.

Thanks, Mark. I appreciate your efforts. Looks like I've got a job ahead of me in the next few weeks.
