It was a little bit of a “me too” with regard to the Rolls Royce designs at the time.

That said, maybe they can recapture some of that magic again by bringing a previously inaccessible luxury design to the mass market. I’m fine with design inspiration from the likes of the Rolls-Royce Spectre or Bentley EXP 15 Concept, for example.

In fairness, if Bentley was indeed the inspiration (debatable) then it would be a very mild form of "me too" since Bentley's are hardly common on the roads. It would be a different story if they had copied the latest sedan from Toyota or GM IMO. I even considered buying a 300, and I was a Jeep guy. lol.

Chargers wide body isn’t needed if this thing doesn’t have 325 wheels. Styling from the halcyon mare be taken from the interior instead, and seating innovation may be a priority.
I’ve stated on Allpar that if the charger could have awd tt6 with 600hp, I’d buy it. Time to put my money where my mouth is, just waiting on the 4 door.
but- a new 300, that might be a better fit, …

This thing is already dated, IMO. I don't see any elegance in it, to be perfectly honest. It's awkward in the front and has an odd slope to the back. I just. No. Elegant isn't how I would describe that thing.

They really are putting all their eggs in the halcyon basket and I'm not sure it'll be a good thing.
I don't see any resemblance in the picture MT is using to the Halcyon. The article states it is taking "design elements". Does that imply it will look like the Halcyon?

Honestly, as someone stated, there is no reason this car should not be on the market WAY before 2029.
This company needs a serious makeover. We all were hoping Filosa would make some worthwhile changes. So far? I don't see anything giving me hope. I'm sure this announcement was made to put some at ease who had been thinking Chrysler is dead. But FOUR years?!?! When you already have a sedan in production that you could use as your foundation? Nope, I'm not buying it.
Literally or figuratively.

A lot of things can happen between now and 2029...
Yes, 300, not 300, non-not Airflow, 300 Airflow, 300 Not Airflow, not 300 Airflow. And in reality they will just add Town & Country back to the minivan lineup do they can pretend to have another vehicle in the lineup.

Its going to be hard to replicate what worked back in 2004 with the previous 300 release. They basically put out a super premium sedan for the time with more power for like half or 2/3s the price of equivalent sedans. To have reasonable access to 350 hp was crazy at the time. The 300m was just retired, topping out at 255, which was considered great too previously. The 300 just hit right.

Stellantis has struggled with the value proposition. I see them releasing this with the same price as a bmw or a lucid, and wondering why its not selling. The formula that previously worked: more power, great styling, half to 2/3 pricing of equivalent german or luxury sedans.
Excellent point!

Had the 2005 Chrysler 300 launched under Stellantis, they would have priced it with a HUGE premium instead of a discount. That alone would have fundamentally changed its value proposition, and killed its chances of becoming the extraordinary success that it was.

When it comes to pricing vehicles, FCA/STLA has an entire decade shooting itself in the foot.

To be fair, we don't know their internal thinking for launching a Chrysler sedan.

One of the possibilities is that, given the recent fiasco of Charger EV, and in the face of moving Charger to ICE, they might have decided to split that role between a Chrysler EV and a Dodge ICE sedan.

In theory, a Chrysler variant would be free from Dodge's "Muscle Car" stigma. That is, at least in Chrysler's post-Marchionne "people mover" era.

We will have to see if their plan actually works, though. So far the Italians and the French have sucked at executing their visions for Chrysler and Dodge.

I think, in reality, there will be zero Chrysler branded cars at all in 2029.

Every few years a thread gets started and people get all excited about some vaporware rumor then realize it was all BS.

Ya don't say, splitting EV into Chrysler. Like how some members on these very boards have been saying... Hmmm...

Friggin STLA!

Genuinely imagine a car company placing 18 years between generations of it's flagship product (2011 - 2029). Laughable, and that's only based on a rumor.
The Durango is now at 15 years when the 26 model arrives. 2011 to 2026. And apparently add 2 more years to that according to recent info.

This was well after the 300 was designed, but I thought it was funny in 2008 when everyone and their brother was copying the BMW 5 series. So many cars with awkward hoffmeister kinks lol. I think Chrysler and Cadillac were the only exception. And they kinda remained that way until Cadillac decided the CT5 should look like a fancier Nissan Altima

Not against EVs, but the EV better be solid state. or at least the FEST.
That’s not going to make any difference because the other manufacturers will have the same technology. If they can’t compete now they won’t be able to compete then.

Having been a former 300 owner, I'd like to be optimistic, but I believe this brand is already the walking dead. With just a friggin' dated minivan to sell they can't wait until 2029 for new product. It will be like trying to sell Tabants or Ladas in the meantime.
I never cared for the looks of the 300. The short rear deck didn't help. But I think a new sedan that turns heads could offer an alternative to the never ending CUVs.

The issue what could they actually do with a sedan to make it a compelling choice over a CUV.
What would say make a person trade their Honda Pilot for a Chrysler 300?
It’s a tall order even if the 2029 300 is executed with a flawless launch and is beloved by the automotive press…

I still find it wild that we're talking about something that MIGHT be coming in 2029...when it's only 2025. How desperate for scraps we've become. :(
