Instead of wasting so much time and development money, I wish something could be salvaged and brought out for Chrysler. That is unless what they had was now recognized as overhyped, hot garbage (which I fear it may of ended up being).

If all BEV Chargers end up being a short window of availability, they may end up being the modern wing car collectibles.

What a waste. IMO, the failure for mass appeal was the lack of a 4 door. If dodge painted itself into a corner with only muscle stuff, that’s fine if there was a Chrysler answer. I’d take a 300/New Yorker/imperial on a tri motor 800 volt system. And Leave the dodge brand.
Not that I’d want it, but it would be cosmically hilarious for dodge to get bit hard by this strategy and fail as a result of this recalcitrant thinking. To be very honest, I’m an enthusiast, not a loyalist. If this is the end, so be it

Makes me wonder if, probably wisely, this is more an indicator that STLA is leaving the EDM development to the companies better suited, and will purchase the components. STLA is waaaay too far behind the curve with EVs, and being 1 or 2 generations behind, it may make sense to outsource to the correct people.

I do hope Charger Daytona EV continues, but I also believe they really need to focus powertrain engineers on getting ZF 8HP evo into as many vehicles as possible. Regardless of the engine mated to it.

5.7 Hemi can be a pig if there is a 268hp/442ft-lb e-motor in the transmission already. Just need a battery that can operate for a few miles (a few kwh at most) and operate in hybrid only mode with stop/start.

It's odd to use the ZF 8-speed and NOT make it a hybrid but maybe they feel "hybrid" has the wrong image, or maybe they have stock in ExxonMobil.

I suspect there had been little to no development on it.

Meanwhile, at Hyundai... price cuts beyond the rebate, and new electric models. I'm guessing Hyundai's passed breakeven and has reached economies of scale. Helps that they own some of the core tech. I'm not actually too familiar with their line, other than reviewers seem to like 'em.

FWIW, a lot of them have to fire sale their high priced gasoline cars, too.
They didn't make THAT many Redeyes, either.
I think the idea of Banshee was that the tech was being created for Chrysler, Maserati, Alfa, etc so they just promised it for Dodge. It's not going to be ready for a while.
Also this is all based on one supplier who might have just been cut out of the loop ;)

freshforged had posted: “If they Just mean the Banshee ultra high end EV, then I can see that. If they’re talking about all charger Daytona BEVs then I’m done with MOPAR. Just done.”

So far it's just Banshee, with disclaimer from my last post.

Sigh. I like the Charger EV, but the two problems were that so far it hasn't been offered as a sedan, and they have had a LOT of software bugs. Video after video on youtube about not being able to charge them and stuff.

Anyway, the Daytona scat pack was hella fast, wasn't it? I don't know what for they need a faster one if the scat pack isn't selling.

You have actually seen a Charger EV, and people have bought them? In the USA or else where?
