Hello all - my first post here after several days of searching the intrernet. I have a PT Cruiser project car. The engine is bad - metal in the oil, lower end rattles. Have not opened it up. It came with a replacement engine. The guy did not know what year engine it is. I dug out enough information from here and other sources telling me that the engine number would tell me the build year. Well, no luck finding that info. The engine had seized up while sitting. Broke free easily but wanting to put in new rings and a few other new parts. Need to be sure of engine year to get parts. Here is a photo of the id boss on the engine (above the flywheel housing). Anyone able to tell me where to find the

build year info for these numbers? Even called the local dealer (Wife worked there for over 30 years). Parts manager and servive manager said they could not find any way to get the build year from the numbers I have.

The '2T348662' are the last 8 characters of the car's VIN that it came out of. It would be a 2002 model year built in Toluca, Mx.

Is there a white label anywhere on this engine?

That is fantastic - thank you. I can see where the label was on the valve cover but the only thing left of it is the glue. I checked the part number of the block casting and did find out that it too comes back as being a one year only block used in 2002 so it all seems to be pointing to being a 2002 engine. Thanks again.
