Expect 2024 model year. Seems to be slow ramp up.
Yes, something is afoot. The Hurricane engines were an option in 2022 Grand Wagoneers, but it did not show up. Vehicles have not been delivered to dealers and show "In Transit" for months, meaning there is more to the story.

So I thought this engine was going to be in the Ram 1500 for the 2023 model year. What happened?
I don't think anyone said it would be in the 2023s - just "eventually."

Slow ramp ups are not unusual. I'd rather they took longer on final calibrations and such and got it perfect.

Sort of like the 2022 Grand Cherokee 4xe which had people who had actually placed orders with deposits and then.... crickets. They never saw a delivery.

Well that's a bummer. I love my Hemi and will never give it up, but I'm curious to see how this new engine fares in the real world when guys get a chance to subject it to towing/work/fleet use.

The 2022 Grand Cherokee 4xe’s are hitting the lots just now.

@ 2k it doesn't impress me much, but it's not meant for people like me anyways. It's a boy toy for middle aged rich guys.
Not sure it’s a boy toy given that almost everyone I see driving one in Denver is a woman, but it certainly is for those with deep pockets. I priced a Grand Wagoneer L Series III without the entertainment package and it was $116k.

The reviews seem to be universally positive from power delivery to NVH with the new inline 6. I’m curious to see how long it takes to proliferate through the lineup. They’ve been producing them for awhile now, but we haven’t seen them hit the streets yet. Have you heard if there were teething issues with the initial production runs that led to some kind of hold?

Would love a standard output one with a hybrid system in a Ram 1500.

Exactly - a heavier-duty “4xe” type setup with larger capacity batteries.

I'd love to see what one can do without the turbo hardware, just for applications where a simpler solution is needed (and out of some silly curiosity). That gives you three options with the same basic design...make an HO and an NA version of the i4 and that makes 6, and covers an incredible range of applications. Though it probably won't be enough to drop the GSE I3 and I4.

I'd like to see a de-tuned crate engine version that runs on regular rather than premium. Would make a great swap for older Jeeps. More efficient and definitely cleaner burning than the 4.0. "Blah, blah, swap a V8". Some of us want an inline 6 to replace an inline 6.
If I had the money if would be a nice project to swap a Hurricane and 8 speed into an XJ.

Comparisons:
5.7 Hemi - 395 hp/410 lb-ft of torque
3.0 GME T6 SO - 400+ hp/450 lb.-ft of torque

6.4 Hemi - 485 hp/475 lb-ft of torque
3.0 GME T6 HO - 500+ hp/475 lb.-ft of torque

These are impressive numbers from an engine that is half the displacement and 125 lbs lighter. Kudos to all the engineers that worked on this new engine. I can't wait to read some reviews of the vehicles that deploy these engines. And I am curious to see what the EPA mileage numbers will be too.
I love it. And I came from a Durango HC. Nothing, NOTHING, matches the brute power of the HC 6.2. But for smooth power? The Hurricane is pretty impressive. It moves the GW. I never feel like I'm struggling for power. Fuel economy? I'm seeing about 3mpg better, based on the vehicle's calculations.

add twin turbos to the V-8 version and see what numbers you get, that 3.0 is jacked up you don't want an engine like that, things wear out faster.

Add twin turbos to the V-8 hemi and see what happens, the so called hurricane 3.0 L engine isn't what you want, it's jacked up and will wear out faster
It'll also blow up, considering not much too much psi went into the Hellcat, Redeye, & Demon engines during development. And that's only if your Hemi lasts long enough without boost anyways.
