Looks like new RAV4 retains much of the outgoing look, sharpened a little. There is a new front end, a new interior with a new infotainment system, and a new hybrid-only power plant. Not a bad approach when you have a sales success.

Having said that, the outgoing RAV4 finally became a top-seller after Toyota gave it a more aggressive front end with a prominent grille. Both are now gone.

Stellantis is so hosed. This is what I meant about keeping the old mindset and resisting electrification. Now they're getting left behind by the company that was notorious for fighting electrification. What is the competition for this in the Stella stable? The Hornet? The Cherokee that doesn't exist yet?
...the Compass that is being postponed in N.A...?

Notice how Toyota is NOT delaying RAV4's launch in the face of this tariff uncertainty.

Toyota has two distinct design "languages": one for cars, highlighted by the slim slit grill on current Camry and Prius; another for trucks, with big bold grilles, like those on Tundra, Tacoma, 4Runner.

Because CUVs sit in-between cars and trucks, they can swing either way.

For years RAV4 used a design closer to other Toyota cars of the era. But in 2018, RAV4 shed the car grille in favor of the bold truck grille opening. This signaled to consumers that RAV4 was more related to 4Runner than to Camry, and buyers responded with their wallets.

This is why I find it odd that Toyota is now again giving RAV4 a front-end that lumps it closer to Camry than 4Runner.

RAV4 and (Grand) Highlander are on the Camry platform now and share nothing with the 4 runner other than being vehicles made by Toyota.
I am not saying that RAV4 shares anything with 4Runner; I am saying that Toyota gave the outgoing RAV4 a truck grille so consumers would associate it to 4Runner rather than Camry.
