I'm looking for a liter of the 44-40 transfer case fluid (Mopar #68049954) in my 2014 Chrysler 300 5.7L AWD, but the dealer wants $53/L CDN :(
Anything that is compatible or a different place to buy from (I'm In Ont, Canada)?
Thanks :)

Welcome to Allpar. Try Googling Borg-Warner 44-40 fluid.
There are other marketers of this product. Make sure that the one you select conforms to Chrysler MS (material standards) for Mopar # 68049954AC.
Dealer prices will vary. Call for quotes.
You may also find it from Walmart, Amazon or on eBay, etc. at competing prices.

Thanks for the welcome.
I'm in Canada and selections seem to be very slim up here. I've called Napa and CarQuest etc and they said nothing is the same they carry. I'm sure part of it is lousy store employees too. Amazon is priced higher then the dealer for some of the fluids I've found. Shipping stuff from the USA is a pita to get fluids over the border and shipping rates are insane...

It seems to be just plain old ATF of better quality...redline c+ seems to be popular and if that works so should atf+4 do it also.
- i would actually either use atf+4/ redline c+ or a good utto oil.( Utto= universial tractor transmission fluid. made for gears, clutches, hydraulics and wet brakes. Dirt cheap on large jugs..)
In a cold climate i would choose atf.

The recommended OEM fluid is recommended for a good reason. The AWD is a special car with special requirements. Please maintain it by the book.

The Mopar 68049954AC for the Borg Warner 44-40 is the ONLY fluid that Chrysler recommends for this transfer case. If other companies market an equivalent fluid, the price may not be much different.
I have no opinion on using anything else as a substitute.

Yah thats the idea I'm getting from lack of responses on different forums :(

Only thing I've seen others use so far is Amsoil SS MV fluid and the Ravenol you mentioned too.
I was really hoping the ATF+4 might work too as I have lots of it, but don't want to risk the clutches etc inside if no one has any experience with it. Thanks :)

Yeah, the 44-44 is basically a 44-40 with an added low range from the look of it. It would be nice to see something hard from BW for sure. The concensus poking around seems to be to run dex3, amsoil atf, or redline d4. I've personnally been running stuff other than the mopar fluid for the better part of 40k miles and haven't had any trouble related to the clutches in the transfer case (just the damn coupler between the trans and tcase). I put redline d4 in it this last time for what it's worth.

I did have a concern with the amsoil being that it claims both atf+4 and dexron 3 compatability. My understanding is that there are some viscosity differences between the 2 as well as some other things that it would seem make the two not really possible to both be fully met. This was the reason I went with redline last since they have a fluid that is dexron 3 (d4) and one that is atf+4 (c4) and don't just have one that's both. Which the amsoil fluid is closer to, but seems like it can't be both to me.
