Maybe this is the "S" or other sporty model equivalent interior. I hope that there's a trim level with something other than dark gray/black trim and that has some woodgrain in the mix. This doesn't look very upscale to me at all. The apparent texture of the dash padding looks just like what's in the current 200.

As for The Knob, it does look like it's in a very convenient place. I also like the HVAC controls 1) also being knobs and not buttons or even worse, being part of the touchscreen, and 2) being close to reach also. Here in TX when you get in a hot car on a 100 degree day, the last thing you want to encounter is complicated HVAC controls.
I would like to see Chryslers with Deep Blue, Dark Green or Red wine colored Leather interiors. Save the RED Color for Dodges and the Italian Makes.

I will bet, if the designers are true to what they have done in the past, have shaped the center stack (the radio screen flanked by the air vents) to reflect the shape of the front grill. You now have a good idea of the general shape of the front grill. As for the knob to select the gears it is unique. But that's ok, you're talking to someone who grew up with a 56 Chrysler with pushbutton drive...

I love it. Swap out that uconnect 5.0 for the 8.4 v2 and I will be sold. No Dart for me if this is going to look as good as we all believe it will. S trim with the 3.2 or 3.6 works for me as long as it returns better economy than my current 200.

Ummm I'm not so sold on this one yet. Perhaps after a few more details become evident, I'll be able to take a stand. I can kinda see that they're trying to create a similar feel to the 200C CONCEPT with elevated planes that flow into/towards the instrument cluster (baring some semblance to swimming goggles?). Until then I'm going with "not yet finalized" - No vote...

Finally the adoption of the E brake. It seems that auto manufacturers are doing away with the traditional gear selector and if that is the case they should give us the option of the 50/50 split front bench and ditch the bulky center console.

I believe this, but I have actually never seen anyone use auto parking.

I like the dash, but to me it looks like they took the piano black section from a Dart and then sat a radio/AC vent pod on top of it.

Probably the quality of the picture. I know they didn't really. I hope this makes sense

Mike
There are elements that are similar to the Dart for sure, as I noticed the same thing. But I still like it.

Actually the first thing that crossed my mind when I saw this is: so much for mixing European and American styling! That interior is 100% American in style, no way any European house would offer with something like that (not Lancia surely, so I think we also have an answer to that question).
Looks massive, solid, almost brutal in its proportions: people will love it IMO. And goes well with the seemingly high belt line of the exterior and the metal-to-glass ratio.
They are going for a look that suggests safety and solidity, a good decision IMO.

But is there really no better way to integrate the 8" screen? All that black plastic around it sucks!
That's not the 8" radio screen. That's the 5" screen

I was thinking it's probably a fairly basic interior, equivalent to a current "LX" trim. The S is usually bit more upscale.

A 200S with the 300hp Pentastar 3.6 paired to a 9 speed auto would make me buy this car in a heartbeat lol

Paddle shifters will be offered, right? At least in the 200S? Pics have me scared...

On a side note, interior looks great!
Yes, hopefully!

Although, I don't think you can get paddle shifters in the new Cherokee...

Things will change but um... it's 90%ish production.
Thanks!

Yup!!

Now to see how the rear headroom is.
Dart interior for comparison:

The Dart has an added "brow" over the top of it all, whereas the 200 seems to have the "brow" as part of the dash panel

Also I have to say that I like the new TFT designs better than the ones in the Dart and Viper.

I'd rather have a regular tach and speedometer, and have the TFT for other information than have the TFT act as the tach/speedometer and have things like the gas gauge as a real gauge when it could be a nice simple indicator on the TFT like the new ones.

Lee your phone is ringing..... It's 1988 calling ag ain. LOL
Good call!! That is an ad for the "new" 1988 chrysler New Yorker Landau powered by the Mitsu sourced 3.0 V6. Unbelieavably comfortable seats. As for the ad above it for the 1974-1975 Imperial we will never see that kind of room in a car again. Shame you have to purchase an SUV to get large seats and 5 feet of should room front and rear.

I'm liking it a lot. I hope it has nice LED accents throughout the dash and interior as well. Looks like a nice setup with everything close at hand.

According to reviews I've seen on YouTube (although we know how accurate auto journalists are), every Cherokee has these standard. Except they aren't shifters, they're "Maximum gear selectors" as in if you use it to upshift, and you pick "9" at 40MPH, it won't be in 9, it will just indicate it can eventually go UP TO 9. Which is sort of silly, and hopefully not what they do in the 200 IF that is how they work on the KL. Because I often use the paddles in my WK2 to prod it into 7th or 8th when I feel it could go into the taller gear.

Wondering about the KNOB. How reliable is it? Will drivers get stuck in a gear because the electrical link to the tranny fails? Does this mean there will be no Autostick?
Autostick is now done through paddle shifters which I am sure will be available. As for the transmission failing, its no different than the 8 speed inthe rams or the chargers/300s etc.

Further, I know quite a few drivers who have had to have their last gen 300's towed in because the shift interlock cable broke or whatever and it couldn't get out of park. Transmission failure is transmission failure, whether there is a mechanical link or an electronic one, you can still get left on the sideof the road.
