Alfa Romeo will launch the second new car in its attempted comeback next year, on the brand’s 105th anniversary.

Anonima Lombarda Fabbrica Automobili (roughly, Lombarda car making company) — or ALFA — was born on June 24, 1910. Their next …

What's interesting is that they are throwing out a "launch date" but no word on what kind of vehicle (4-door, 2-door, roadster, fixed roof, etc) or when production would commence. Seems very reminiscent of the 4C where it launched early, but production was WAY behind the launch. It seems that Alfa is the exception to Marchionne's "90 day rule" about not unveiling future product too early.

And let's not even talk about the waste of money and time that trying to revive Alfa is....

I hope for Alfa's sake whatever they produce is beautifully styled and dynamically competitive....and NOT in that segment. Their first effort should not be running up against the titans (BMW 3-series, Audi A4, Lexus IS, MB C-class, etc). Shoot for a larger car with more profit potential in a segment that's a little less competitive in terms of dynamics. If you must use a BMW target, I'd shoot for the 5-series window. The Lexus offering isn't great, the Audi A6 is solid but not outstanding, and the Cadillac CTS is a player, but fringe. There's more room for a new entrant there than there is in the compact luxury segment where EVERYONE is pretty good...

“D-RWD by MY2015 would surprise to heck out of since it was delayed nearly 6 months. That would take some hustled.”

Not model year 2015 but calendar year 2015.

Esp if they are really working with the full might of Auburn Hills behind their relatively small crew, and are doing what some have said, namely adapting CUSW to rear drive. They could start with the Maserati Ghibli front and rear suspension architecture and the ZF eight speed with a detuned Maserati V6 and retuned VM V6 diesel. Not saying it's fast or easy but that would really speed things up. Then perhaps the next generation is ground up.

I thought that the Miata was going to share with a Fiat roadster, and that Alfa was going to do their own roadster/spyder. Could this simply be a 4C variant? Maybe an open top version, or a Quadrifoglio?

What's shown in Mr. Wester's Investor's Day presentation for the product cadence?

I seem to recall there were originally 3 vehicles that would become FCA midsize (D-segment) cars, Dodge, Chrysler, and Alfa Romeo. Sergio cancelled everything and sent the design teams back to the drawing boards. Around that same, time rumors of a RWD Avenger replacement started popping up. The only midsize product to arrive has been the CUSW Chrysler 200. My suspicion is the 200 took features from all 3 of the original brands designs, while rear drive midsize development continues for Dodge and Alfa.
