Actually, it was a GM platform first.
It was a Fiat platform first.

It was a joint venture, GM-Fiat SCCS (Small Common Components and Systems) designed by a joint GM-Fiat team in Italy. The Fiat Grande Punto came out in 2005, the Opel Corsa D in 2006. So it was a Fiat platform first.

Just like PSA EMP1/CMP was a 60/40 PSA/Dongfeng joint venture designed by a team in France. Except EMP1/CMP came out in 2018 with the DS3, so it isn't ancient and obsolete. It was a PSA platform first.

EMP1/CMP has already replaced GM-Fiat SCCS for the Corsa F.

I dont see many 90's turbo cars being restored
One these days you may get in it, but getting out of it may be another thing. I had a 340 Demon in the late 70s. While it was a fast ride, I'm just not a car guy. I traded it for a new 79 W-150 Power Wagon. I've owned nothing but trucks and SUVs since I was 19. We had a van or two along the way when my kids were young.
Lol , my neighbors kid bought a new C8 Vette . It is one amazing machine . But you had to see me getting in and out of it . I basically fell sideways getting in and had to crawl out like a baby on all fours . Iam an average build but these old bones - lol cant do it ! .

"Modern cars—those made from the 1980s to today—are on an accelerated path toward collector status."

Gen X isn't like Baby Boomers:

"the generally agreed-upon start of Gen X (1965) and end of millennial (1996) generations puts these buyers at about 30-60 years old, a sweet spot for collector car purchases. It’s only natural that their preferences become a focal point of the market as their earning power is in its peak years."

The average age of a collector car left the muslce car era in 2019.

I couldn't take a C4 Corvette back when they were new, but I'm 6'2". I loved my Laser though and had no trouble fitting in it.

This is as thorough a review as I've seen:

It's generally positive, with the biggest nitpicks seeming to be related to weight and handling. Even then, it handles well, but weight and lack of steering feedback hold it back.

Does anybody know when the media drives actually occurred? The embargo was lifted on December 12 so I'm wondering how my earlier the media drives were. A week? A month?

They were a week before, all pre-production cars. IMO, Matt McAlear shouldn't have scheduled the media drive until they had full production units ready. They could've avoided some of this negative press. Other manufacturers do this routinely when they see the need.
