Oh yeah we've all heard about the 1.6T that's coming, but it's likely to be more potent than you think for a hybrid engine. If anything this will be more for models on the STLA Medium platform. Considering the fact that they moved the current Compass to 2.0T as it's only engine, in a subcompact class, I doubt they would use anything smaller in a platform that's developed for large vehicles.
Right. The engine has been offered with everything from 120 to 270 HP in Europe. Hasn't been a US tune since 2015, but you can be pretty certain one will be around 200 HP and 200 lb ft running on regular which would be way better than the 2.4, and should replace the low boost 2.0 in any application under 4000 lb.Yes, and what’s crappy about it? That’s what I’m getting at. You don’t even know the specs. Part of the reason the Cherokee and Compass struggled is because they didn’t have a competitive and thoroughly modern base engine…the engine consumers buy most.
Nope. Just 1.6L and 1.6L MHEV for KM.STLA Large supports BEV and GME engines for ICE, so that's both Hurricane (I4) and Tornado (I6), with or without PHEV. That doesn't mean that every possible combination will come to market, though.
I've no inside info on this, but an I4 MHEV ICE entry model, I4 PHEV, and I6 ICE high performance sounds plausible for KM.
I don't think Cherokee pricing expectations would support a BEV... leave that to Wagoneer S.
1.6T is plenty for any PHEV. Anything more is just for marketing. The electric motors take care of the torque need. The 1.6T takes care of the range anxiety. Perfect match.Nope. Just 1.6L and 1.6L MHEV for KM.
Is that an NA or Turbo though?Nope. Just 1.6L and 1.6L MHEV for KM.
No current Prius is a 2.0. 0-60 7.1 sec, AWD 7.0, Prius Prime 6.4 sec.Is that an NA or Turbo though?
Current Prius is NA 1.8 still isn't it?
I mean it gets great MPGs, so that's good, but that's not really the acceleration performance I'd be looking for.
Granted, with the terrible transmission tuning in the KL, my wife prefers our Prius over our KL for instant torque reasons lol. The Pentastar is better at other aspects obviously, other than MPGs, but that reluctance to downshift in the KL is bad.
We've seen a couple photos and it's a massive fail? I mean come on people.I agree with Jimboy. Take the emblems off that thing and NOBODY would know it's a Jeep. It looks cookie cutter. Whether or not there are a couple of design cues that came from Jeep's heritage is irrelevant. Fact is, every SUV on the market looks just like this now. It's a shame. Jeep was always different, unique. That Wagoneer S is ugly as sin. The current Grand Cherokee looks like a catfish, and this Wagoneer S is just plain ugly and cookie cutter.
And no, I don’t think it’s good to “look at what’s underneath” because aside from JL and JT every other modern Jeep has proven to be unreliable long term. Suspension bushings and connections fail early in life, problems arise quickly, and electrical gremlins adorn them front to rear. Jeeps keep shops in business. Nothing to write home about there.
What makes a Jeep a Jeep (aside from JL and JT) is the image. Period. And they’ve failed massively with this EV seen in this thread.
“If it has an electric motor, even as an option, it'll fail dismally." - that's the attitude. We'll see. Maybe the rest of the world will be BEV and we'll still be driving Hemi V8s ten years from now. We've seen a couple photos and it's a massive fail? I mean come on people.
Anything that is new and scary is considered a fail. A lot of people live in the past. We've seen a couple photos and it's a massive fail? I mean come on people.
Agreed, they should have something to rival the Defender/G Class like a luxury version of the WranglerView attachment 101036
If Recon is about the size of a Wrangler, that makes Wagoneer S the size of a Cherokee, I think, not a Grand.. it'll be interesting to see how it sells, if it's not obscenely expensive for a small SUV. The fact they're touting its on-road performance tells me this isn't an off-road oriented vehicle. I think Jeep is missing something by not making at least one off-road oriented Wagoneer variant.
I believe they’re saying Recon will. What EVs have 80% the capability of a Jeep Wrangler?
To my eyes, Wagoneer S and Recon appear to be roughly the same size. So there will be Wagoneer S and it’s Cherokee twin, plus Recon? If there is an ICE version of Wagoneer S (Cherokee), will there be an ICE/PHEV version of Recon? It appears to have a long enough nose to fit an ICE in there, why design it with such if there is no need to fit an engine?View attachment 101036

So the value prop is that the Recon is a league of its own for EVs, but it falls short of the capabilities of a Wrangler.I believe they’re saying Recon will.
Until it’s actually revealed and reviewed, who knows. I’ll reserve judgement until then.So the value prop is that the Recon is a league of its own for EVs, but it falls short of the capabilities of a Wrangler.
I dont see Wrangler mall crawlers trading up (it will certainly be more expensive) to a Recon.
Man, a HEV Recon could be a great replacement for my KLView attachment 101036

25 years of driving exclusively Mopar, have never not felt supported by the dealership or corporation if something broke. Doesn't mean we haven't had tense moments, because sometimes replicating a problem is hard. I'm also batting 1.000 when it comes to getting $$ out of Chrysler even AFTER warranty has expired. Maybe I'm lucky?I’m not afraid of the tech, I’m afraid of not being supported by the dealers and/or the corporation if something breaks or doesn’t work right. Honestly, that’s my fear regardless of powertrain. Shelling out high $$ and being treated like an imbecile for doing so doesn’t sound like much fun.
The EV Wrangler. 😜What EVs have 80% the capability of a Jeep Wrangler?
