I drove Jeeps for 22 years or so, and can say that it was a rollercoaster of varying levels of service from good to terrible. It at times rivaled the worst treatment we received from Ford when I was growing up, which ended up driving my family away from Ford and drove me away from Jeep since my Liberty was scrapped. If I buy another Jeep, and may very well do so, I would try a different dealer. I’ve seen enough of my local ones to know I don’t want to go back.25 years of driving exclusively Mopar, have never not felt supported by the dealership or corporation if something broke. Doesn't mean we haven't had tense moments, because sometimes replicating a problem is hard. I'm also batting 1.000 when it comes to getting $$ out of Chrysler even AFTER warranty has expired. Maybe I'm lucky?
I’ve done Ok, but it should not be so hard to get things fixed. I had to get in the service manager and dealership GM face and be much more confrontational than necessary to get my Wrangler fixed and have a rental car while waiting on parts. Waiting 6-8 weeks for parts is ridiculous. At least it hit cut to 4 week which was still too long.25 years of driving exclusively Mopar, have never not felt supported by the dealership or corporation if something broke. I think the dealers make all the difference in the world. I don't believe it should be next to impossible for a company to rid themselves of incompetent dealers. Some of the problems stem from the company itself. When you change hands every 5 to 10 years it's no wonder there are problems. That's why they need a non negotiable 10yr/100k warranty for starters.I drove Jeeps for 22 years or so, and can say that it was a rollercoaster of varying levels of service from good to terrible. Electrification has brought new tech as well as new issues…regardless of brand. It hasn’t turned me off to purchasing an EV or hybrid, however I’m going to approach with even more caution than usual, especially with STLA.
The longer warranty does a couple of positive things. It gives consumers confidence, it's a bragging right for marketing, and it forces quality to be raised because the manufacturer can't afford a decade of repair costs for bad decisions and poor quality. It also puts pressure on suppliers to improve quality as often there is warranty impact to them if their part fails. It WILL, if all of this occurs, lead to a slightly higher cost point on the vehicle, but STLA has plenty of room to absorb that cost given inflated margins in NA.I think the dealers make all the difference in the world.
