Is it cause the 4 extra inches allow for the reclining adjustable seat and for the purpose of measuring it was done at only one position (furthest forward) which makes them the same.

?

I put the dimensions of DT (2019) VS DS (2018). I did the dimensions of the 2019 Ram 1500 Laramie Crew Cab 4x4 5'7" Box and a 2018 Ram 1500 Laramie Crew Cab 4x4 5'7" Box .

Head Room - Front
41"/41"
Head Room - Rear
39.9"/39.9"
Hip Room - Front
63.2"/63.2"
Hip Room - Rear
63.2"/63.2"
Leg Room - Front
41"/41"
Leg Room - Rear
40.3"/40.3"
Shoulder Room - Front
66"/66"
Shoulder Room - Rear
65.7"/65.7"

Cargo Area - Bed Height
21.4"/20"
Cargo Area - Bed Length
67.4"/67.4"
Cargo Area - Bed Width Wall
66.4"/66.4"
Overall Body Width
82.1"/79.4"
Overall Height
77.6"/77.5"
Overall Length
232.9"/229"
Wheelbase
144.6"/140.5"

The interior dimensions are the same for room. Where it is different, is the exterior of the truck. GM Trucks grew exterior wise as well to make a bigger footprint to meet the carbon footprints there were in place when the last administration was in place. This allows the vehicle to get away with releasing the same carbon emissions without being penalized. But as you can see DT is bigger than DS. The fact that DT can equal DS in fuel economy in its regular HEMI form is pretty amazing.
Are you sure those are the new interior dimensions? RAM has made a big deal of the increased leg room in the rear of the crew cab adding 4 inches to the frame and yet he leg room is listed as the same. Personally I think those are both the DS dimensions for interior. It wouldn't be the first FCA paperwork snafu.

The EPA did not change their test, AFAIK. Perhaps the city mpg number did change, but in fractions, e.g. from 16.50 to 17.49 mpg.. that would be a nearly 1 mpg increase but it would not show up at all.

I was thinking about FFV but that's only for CAFE, not for published numbers.
...and maybe just maybe the drop in the Cherokee numbers for 19 is not due to the new lighter body or some mysterious trans-axle calibration changes, but instead tweaks to the testing?

EPA does not tweak their test without a long formal discussion period.

That said, it's actually FCA that does the tests, so maybe.

My guess would be that the transmission has been retuned for driving experience, with fuel economy taking lower priority. That can happen. Consider that there are cars with Economy and Sport buttons...

That may be a very good guess and of course we are dealing with the possibility of up to a .999999 mpg change with no reported difference as well.

I don't get the special editions like this (the Hockey one comes to mind also). Rolling billboards for someone else's business.

I guess I'm not in to free advertising.

Here in Detroit, the Red Wings Ram 1500s and Silverado 1500s were extremely popular...

I liked the original photoshop of othese trucks lifted alot more, this one is... uhhh... not my cup of tea. The photo is hiding in this thread somewhere, I just dont have the time or patience to sift through 115 pages of thread to find it. It Featured and Black Limited an Ivory Limited.

Time happened, i reserved my comments, i'm still not thrilled about exterior look of this truck. The interior is great, and function has improvements. I'm still not seeing reward reaped for all the time they had to develop a sexy exterior design. Lots of media attention praising interior, deserved. Nobody complains about the exterior, aside from crosshair comments. Exterior seems to be described as a mild non offensive new direction. FWIW not what my hopes and expectations wanted. Lets hope the mild hybrid system contributes and is not just a talking point/gimmick. The RAM bar appears to be more of a gen. differentiator than a strong styling addition. Lets hope future model year mechanical phase in's are significant.

I feel it's fair to contribute this comment/opinion as i continue to read pages of comments/opinion on how awesome this design is.

In the many reviews I have read of this truck, I have not seen one where they are gushing over the exterior design, especially the front end, like they do the interior. The squinty headlights on the upper trim models are hideous, very Cherokee like turned horizontal. The bug deflector unibrow is equally bad. At least the body color trims somewhat mask this aspect of the front end. The Photoshop Ryan did of the front end a few weeks ago is what this thing should have been. It wouldn't take much for a refresh to make this look happen.
