So posted some links in the longhorn thread (got into wrong thread), but this disassociated touchscreen display (RFV) is also listed with 2018 Pacifica.

Another patent was found for disarticulated touchscreen display also.

The one person described the RFV as just that the display was separate from the actual body of the radio.

Thoughts?
It could be the precursor to an actual disassociated touch screen that can move out of the dash and rotate. If the actual processor and core of the system are separate from the screen, the screen would be given freedom to move around if they choose to make that available in the future. Maybe for now they are just putting the parts in the right spot so less change is required when it becomes available...

Also - any order info for the Limited?

Uh - this is big news. We have clients currently waiting for a 2018 EcoDiesel since there was a total void of communication from FCA toward its availability. Are you able to -confirm- there will not be an EcoDiesel offering (Grand Cherokee, Promaster also) for 2018 MY vehicles?
I got 2x '17 SLT's if you need. I can see if they are available

I like how the new multifunction display can have the speed display in the center top position, like I've done on my Challenger. I've come to rely on the digital speedometer more than the dial in both my Challenger and my late-model DS Ram; in the DS I end up foregoing something else I want to monitor in favor of the speedometer readout, where in the Challenger I can bring that item I'm watching up into the main screen area and still have the speed in the center top.

I really like this quote from a Motortrend reporter:

"When we compared the Honda Accord and Toyota Camry, I closed the story with a quote from fellow reviewer Collin Woodard, who wrote: “Toyota built a better Camry. Honda built a better car.” Granted, we haven’t driven the all-new Chevrolet Silverado or Ram 1500 yet, but in person and on paper, it’s déjà vu writ extra-large. Chevrolet built a better Silverado, but Ram stole the show with a forward-thinking truck. From the mild-hybrid powertrains to the two-mode shocks, the heated/cooled/reclining rear seats to the Tesla-aping 12.0-inch touchscreen, the Ram 1500 is clearly looking ahead to future trends, demands, and regulations and taking them head-on now rather than later, all while maintaining top-of-the-class capability. Meanwhile, Ford won’t have a hybrid F-150 until 2020, Chevrolet hasn’t said a peep about bringing back the Silverado hybrid, and Toyota and Nissan have said even less. —Scott Evans"

Want to see something funny? Watch this video from about 3:10-4:30 (Do yourself a favor and mute the horrible music). In the video, you'll find Silverado's design team in the background creeping on the Ram. Note their serious, almost concerned faces and their color and trim manager (the woman) reach out and touch the metal on the door to find out it's real. You'll also see their chief of design in the passenger side in pure awe. :D;)

LOL! That's funny. They look pretty concerned, I guess a refreshed 2019 Silverado is on the way soon.

When Ram is ready to announce pricing. Maybe a week or two since they want these in dealers as soon as possible.

Mike
I emailed Nick Cappa and he said pricing and package info will be available within 30 days with package info coming out first. It looks like you're doing a good job tracking down the package and ordering info though.

That is hilarious. I know its common to be checking out the competition at the auto show, but they have to be going how did we f#$% up? Interior is where the customer spends all their time and the new Silverado is full of hard plastic on top of the dash and below the armrest on the door. Remember when Chrysler was the laughing stock of interiors?

Thanks to Sergio allowing to invest more into interiors and people like Klaus Busse who started hiring amazing people outside the car market to work on interiors along with the amazing car people who work within the design team, FCA US is by far the best in interiors.

Silverado really was out shadowed by the Ram 1500 at NAIAS by the press. Every media organization I have seen says Ram stole the show.

Here is that Head Engineer on Autoline Detroit talking about the new Silverado... I don't think they really get trucks. Luckily they have the huge amount of diehard bowtie fans to fall back on.
